The Starcazia Music Conservatory Philosophy
The Starcazia Music Conservatory is a human-centered learning facility that focuses on the specific needs of each individual learner as part of the growing & instructional process. Essentially, each learner is allowed to proceed in their own way. All instruction is based upon curiosity, educational & emotional need, and natural inclination. All are encouraged to breach old barriers, search for new answers, and recognize the miracle of themselves.
Location
The Starcazia Music Conservatory sits beside the Oswegatchie River surrounded by lush forestry and wetlands. Families are free to walk, swing upon the many swings, play outdoors, and lounge on the porch or the hammock beside the river while waiting between lessons. This conservatory is located in Fowler, NY, in St. Lawrence County.
Rationale
Musical Activity elicits happiness in the human that nothing else does. This response is an indication that higher emotional awareness is being reached and allows the listener to experience a genuine response to the sound (e.g., feel free/be creative). As the response evolves, it lends itself to a process, unique to the individual, and transformative in nature. Musical activity involves the entire spectrum of learning processes, and even as each human mind is hearing the sound from their own, unique perspective, the music has also, already, permeated the emotions and created an emotional reaction (e.g., listening => feeling). Due to the nature of human consciousness, this will likely remain true for as long as there exists music. This makes music valuable for use as a gentle tool, from which to shape and heal the human heart and soul. Music elicits emotional response and can be used as a medium for conscious emotional exploration.
Overall Objective and Simplified Methodology
Over the years of teaching, I have incorporated ear training skill sets into my methodology that perpetuate relative-pitch skill development in my students, regardless of their cognitive difficulties or gifts. It is by utilizing student strengths and instilling intrinsic motivation that one may reach a child, to help where they need to be met, and in the process, allow them to learn how to teach themselves how to learn. Once they have the confidence as a learner and consequently master this process, they are free to learn whatever they’d like and proceed in whatever direction, for as long as they wish.

Expected Practice Habits
Studio students are expected to practice their exercises until memorized and perfectly played. Practice habits are intrinsically motivated and student developed; students do not ever need to be told to practice. Lesson Time will reveal to them what to rehearse during their own personal practice time, and they will be responsible for their own progress. Parents, siblings, relatives and friends should refrain from nagging or teasing the student learner while they are establishing motivation for self-improvement; it is not helpful. Always allow the student learner privacy in establishing productive practice habits.
Courtesy Conservatory Photography Portfolio Development
Conservatory music families receive a full professional photography portfolio featuring their student at the instrument, and during performances. These pictures are free to every family studying music for at least 12 weeks. Photography portfolios are developed every two years for continuing students.

Individuals learn how to identify their emotional state, explore how emotions affect others and themselves individually, and how to mitigate overwhelming and destructive emotions in themselves & others.
Become a Champion of Choice
Individuals learn how to identify non-productive emotionality and toxic emotional reaction. Participants will explore the process of decision-making as it exists without relying exclusively on emotion or toxic motivation.
Experience the Kidz Bounce
This activity playgroup uses dance, mime, music, action video, relaxation training, and movement to engage the older learner in live-gaming exercises, utilizing theater arts along with musical & active listening activities.
